The exhibition consist of three different projects distributed in different rooms inside the house that will be holding the exhibition.

Matter / Light project:

Angel Orensanz’s matter/light is a study of his expressionist work paired with a surrealist sensibility. For the last couple of decades the Spanish/American sculptor has captured landscapes seen in motion from cars or airplanes and has transformed them into imprints of light and colored energy. This energy recording process has taken the New York-based artist to Wales, Sicily, the Pyrenees in Southern France and Moscow. This result assimilates motion photography of landscapes perceived as sparks and fleeting lines as they fly in front of the camera. The activated light caresses over the viewer’s body and consciousness, which can be both seen and felt while walking through the installation. In this sense, the light that Orensanz uses is not an addendum to the piece, but instead creates the environment and context for the viewer.

The installation of this project, inside the Building #11 in Governors Island is described below:

Also, like a part of the same project Matter/Light, we will present a selection of Orensanz’s light boxes (multilayered light landscapes) in some rooms of the basement of the house and a selection of drawings in some rooms of the first floor of the house.
